Tim Dodge is one of the longest tenured students at Ground Control Owings Mills. After studying several forms of tradition martial arts growing up, Tim wanted to try something new and decided he wanted to try an art that’s primary focus was grappling. He instantly fell in love with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and hasn’t looked back. Tim is mainly found training during 6 am Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes and also teaches Saturday morning’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class as well. As an instructor, Tim is known for his attention to detail and having a style that primarily focuses on the basics. Although there isn’t much “flash” in his game, Tim has shown on the competition that his arsenal is very much effective. He has medaled and won several local tournaments over the years and has also taken medals home at IBJJF regional tournaments including the New York Open and the Washington DC Open. Tim also has competed several times at the World Masters Championships in Las Vegas and was one match away from making the podium in 2017, finishing in the top 8 in his weight class.
